Information acquired in administering unemployment and disability compensation is confidential. Information may be disclosed by the department in relation to participation as a party or lien claimant in a judicial or administrative proceeding.
Medical records may be obtained in accordance with Unemp. Ins. Code 1095 [e.g. to properly present a claim for benefits; enable state or local governmental departments or agencies to seek criminal, civil, or administrative remedies in connection with the unlawful application for, or receipt of, relief; etc] and should not be made available public in a manner that would reveal individual identities.
Unless otherwise provided, information acquired in administering this code is confidential and for the exclusive use and information for the director to carry out his duties. Information permitted to be disclosed is not admissible as evidence in any proceeding except as provided in this code. Information may be used for statistical purposes so long as the names of the employers and workers are not revealed.
